We see you. Out here shining and thriving and gifting the world with your sparkle. And let’s be clear. You are a gift. Not a gift to be opened up, forgotten and eventually discarded. Not a gift that benefits just a few of us. No, you are a gift to us all.

Most importantly, you are a gift to yourself.

You are the backbone of our communities. You are the glue that holds us together. You are the drive that motivates us to higher heights. You are the balm that soothes us when the world tears at our bodies and souls. You are the magic that adds a sparkle to our eyes and pep to our steps. You are the brilliance in every room — board rooms, court rooms, exam rooms and all. See, we know that Black girls are everything. You are everything.

And you deserve it all. The praise and recognition. The respect and admiration. The softness and tenderness. The love. You deserve to be loved. To be seen not just for all you do, but for who you are. You deserve to be valued and appreciated. In a world of sharp edges and jagged terrain, you deserve a soft place to rest. Yes, you deserve rest — to put down the cape and just be.

You deserve to be held softly, spoken to respectfully, trust like something holy. Because no matter who you are — cis, trans, nonbinary, somewhere in between or way beyond — or when you you arrive in womanhood, your existence is not a question mark. It has always been the answer. You don’t just deserve the universe.

You are the universe. You are everything.

You deserve to be loved like the world is yours — because it is.
