Mifepristone is a safe and effective medication used in medication abortion and miscarriage care.
On May 1, 2026, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled to place restrictions on the FDA-approved medicine, preventing mifepristone from being sent to patients by mail. That ruling threatened to dramatically worsen the already-dire abortion access crisis across the country.
One week later, the U.S. Supreme Court paused the 5th Circuit's ruling - returning mifepristone access to where it was Friday morning.
